Frequently Asked Questions
What is Physical Therapy?
Physical therapists are the movement experts in the health world. They study how to body moves through space and are specially trained to identify faulty movement patterns and mechanics that lead to pain, injury, or inefficiency. By identifying these patterns and the ROOT cause of the problem, they are able to not only improve the movement through skilled manual techniques to change how a joint and soft tissue move, but are able to teach you how to strengthen, lengthen, and how to move correctly and effectively to reduce pain, improve function, and optimize performance.
Do you take insurance?
In short, no. We believe that people should have access to whatever healthcare provider they choose regardless of whether their insurance company is “in-network.” We are out-of-network with all insurance companies and operate as a cash-based practice only. That means that you pay for your services that you receive and you can choose your own provider. If you desire to seek reimbursement for out-of-network services, we can provide you with a superbill which you can submit on your own. We do not submit information to insurance companies.
Can I use my HSA or FSA to pay for services?
Yes. Physical therapy is a covered service and payable with Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flex Spending Accounts (FSA). We also accept cash and major credit cards.
What type of patients do you see?
At MoveWell, we specialize in orthopedic, sports, and the active patient. We have experience providing care for ages 5+ including high level athletes. For more on our specialities and experience, see the Meet Your Therapist page.
Why would I choose MoveWell Physical Therapy instead of someone my insurance covers?
Your care here will always be 1-on-1 and individualized to you. Your treatment time will not be divided with another patient. All of your care will be delivered by a Doctor of Physical Therapy rather than a physical therapy assistant. To learn more, we encourage you to schedule a discovery call.
What is a discovery call?
Your chance to speak with a Doctor of Physical Therapy to ask questions and learn more to determine if MoveWell PT is a good fit for your needs.
What should I expect at my first physical therapy visit?
Your therapist will go over a detailed medical/surgical history, discuss your overall health habits (including sleep health, activity levels, GI health), and current concerns. They will assess movement of the area of concern and other related body regions, check flexibility, strength, and movement patterns to identify faulty movements. After a thorough assessment, your PT will discuss a treatment plan that best fits your needs to address your goals. You will likely receive treatment on your first visit (manual treatment and/or exercise) to get started on your goals right away.
How long does it take to do physical therapy?
We wish we could answer that, but each case is different, so an evaluation is necessary. There is no one-size-fits all approach here.
